Numbers. Not a single case has recovered. Unfortunately, we have a pretty large sample with which to crunch numbers... Without any clues to a cause or any different action to be taken, there's no reason to expect a different outcome. Even if new methods are tried, they're baseless shots in the dark.

It's summer, in a village in the woods. It'd be stranger not to have a few bug bites. Particularly for a contractor.

But either way, those holes are too small for much blood to escape without them or their families noticing... I'm not sure how many are over their entire body, but for the amount of blood that seems to be missing day by day...

That kind of blood can't leave the body without stains on the sheets, without going somewhere, and that quantity can't be carted off by something family members wouldn't notice.

Mikiyasu... he heard his son at night, but saw no bug large enough to have a liter or more of blood. None of the victims say anything about anything that would be able to do that. There's nothing on the sheets.

I'm a doctor, not a magician! Once you write something off as magic, nothing has to make sense! There's no need for cause and effect, there's no way to analyze or stop it!
